Description
For increased awareness, the buoy can be paired with up to eight Descent T2 transceivers (sold separately), enabling those on the surface to use the Garmin Dive smartphone app to monitor the diver’s tank pressure, depth, distance and approximate locations on a map within the SubWave sonar network. (Conditions such as surface, waves, chop, objects and diver position can obstruct the signal and reduce range.)
Topside crews can pair and use the Garmin Dive smartphone app for diver communication, exchanging preset messages with to up to eight divers who have paired their Descent T2 transceivers and compatible air-integrated dive computers with the Descent S1 buoy. (Some compatible dive computers can receive, but not send, messages. Conditions such as surface, waves, chop, objects and diver position can obstruct the signal and reduce range.)
Up to eight divers can see their distances as well as directions from the Descent S1 buoy, giving them situational awareness while they are diving. (Conditions such as surface, waves, chop, objects and diver position can obstruct the signal and reduce range.)
For positional awareness, divers can track their distance and direction back to the Descent S1 buoy — then, after surfacing, they can sync and review their underwater heatmaps on the Garmin Dive smartphone app to see approximately where they were diving. Battery performance: Up to 15 hours of battery life means the buoy can be deployed for a full day of diving without the need to recharge
